Agartala: A student living in Tripura’s Ramnagar named Debalina Roy has become the first female from the state to crack the examination of Indian Railways while being appointed as the assistant loco pilot and all set to run trains. 

In her remarks, Debalina Roy expressed her happiness and called it a dream come true moment in her life. She mentioned that she had dreamed of serving in the railways since her childhood days. While being full of emotions and happiness, Roy said that she wanted to serve the railways, which are used by millions of Indians to travel regularly.

In her recent interview, Roy mentioned that she still remembers the day when she came across an advertisement by the Indian railways during the time when she was preparing to appear in a civil service examination. 

She said that after clearing the prelims in 2018 and attempting for the mains later, she decided to experience writing exams related to the technical posts, and then she got selected. After the accomplishment, her social media poured immense love and affection as she became the first one to clear the examination in the entire state. 

She further stressed that getting selected for the railways would fulfil her aspirations as it is a big platform. Roy emphasized that no position should be left for those female candidates who are eligible to take up the job, which should not affect by gender identity.

In the modern world, both men and women are required to play their part equally towards the contribution of building a financially independent and strong family, she said. “The role that I am being selected for would be quite different for the people to digest, but the times have changed,” she added. 

Meanwhile, Debalina Roy also commented on her exam preparations when asked and stressed that she prepared for four months without any external help. It was also reported that she took guidance from her few seniors to understand the job after she saw the advertisement. It was a roller coaster experience for her, she said. 

She also shared her determination and will to work in the capacity of the assistant loco pilot, as it may be challenging to ferry passengers from one end to another.
