UAE: President meets COP28 participants

Abu Dhabi: President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the 30th of October, met with ministers and delegations of countries that are participating in COP28. This meeting was held as the Pre-COP ministerial meeting at Qasr Al Hosn in Abu Dhabi.

The UAE president welcomed the guests during the meeting and engaged in discussions on how to make COP28 more successful to achieve the most ambitious outcomes possible. Additionally, the objective of pre-COP is to accelerate joint efforts and cooperation to reach shared goals.

Moreover president also stated that and emphasised the UAE’s commitment to providing all resources for making the upcoming conference to succeed and expressed the country’s preparedness to work with the international community to initiate joint actions in response to climate challenges while creating a better future for coming generations.

On the other side, Participants also shared their gratitude for the UAE hosting these preliminary meetings, highlighting their significance in achieving more ambitious results and adopting a holistic approach to tackling climate change-related issues. Sustainable development efforts consider all elements in the drive towards a more sustainable future.

The preliminary ministerial meetings act as a preparatory platform for ministers and delegates. It also serves to set the stage for the upcoming COP28. This year’s meetings have marked a significant step toward preventative action against climate change, with boasting attendance from 70 ministers and over 100 delegations from around the world.

It is to be specifically mentioned that this impressive turnout makes it the largest Pre-COP event to date, with participation more than double the standard for these annual gatherings.

President said that the UAE government will do everything to turn this event into a successful event . He also stated that the UAE is committed to the goals of sustainable development and this COP28 conference will be an extra opportunity for the UAE to show its commitment at the global level stage.
