UAE President praised agreement between Russia, Ukraine, Turkiye during call with Turkish President

The United Arab Emirates President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan made a phone call to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Saturday, July 23.

During the call, Sheikh Mohamed appreciated and welcomed the agreement signed in Istanbul between Russia, Ukraine and Türkiye, along with the participation of the UN (United Nations), to provide a safe route for grain exports via the Black Sea to markets around the world.

Sheikh Mohamed highlighted that the Istanbul Agreement is a significant stride toward the right direction and stated that he looks forward to its immediate execution, as it would allow avoiding a worldwide food crisis.

The UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed, also praised the efforts of President Erdoğan and initiatives which contributed to the signing of the agreement on Friday, July 22, which will help ease the export of Ukrainian grain to world markets and assure a safe passage.

He further praised the Turkish diplomatic efforts to reach this agreement between Russia and Ukraine which are currently in a state of war due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Sheikh Mohamed stressed the significance of resolving disputes via diplomatic and political means to avoid any further repercussions that conflicts have on citizens, infrastructure as well as the international order.

The UAE President underlined the keenness of the country in supporting efforts and initiatives strived at boosting security and promoting peace and stability, to which all peoples of the world desire.

The UAE President and the Turkish President also discussed the bilateral ties, promising prospects for cooperation and joint work among the UAE and Turkiye in different fields to serve the interests of their nations.

Both the leaders also tackled the recent regional and international concerns of mutual interest and relevant developments.
