UAE Weather: Rains expected in few parts with heavy winds

Weather conditions around the country will be cloudy at times, with a slight chance of some rains and convective cloud formation in the afternoon in some eastern and southern regions, said the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) in its forecast.

Light to moderate winds is also expected with fresh and intense at times, blowing dust and sand. Temperatures will hit around 45ºC in Al Ain, 44ºC in Abu Dhabi, 43ºC in Dubai, 42ºC in Ras Al Khaimah along with 36ºC in Fujairah.

Looking forward to Friday, the weather department stated that the weather would be fair to partly cloudy with a prediction of some convective cloud formation in the east by afternoon.

The winds are predicted to be light to moderate, freshening and will blow dust at times, with speeds of around 40 kph.

On Saturday, August 6, weather conditions will be partly cloudy while the winds are expected to be light to moderate with speeds of as high as 35kph.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, it will remain partly cloudy, accompanied by some light to moderate winds with freshening at some times and reaching speeds of 35 kilometres per hour.

Last week, the UAE was hit by devastating flash floods, which impacted parts of the Northern UAE.

The heavy rainfall the UAE has witnessed for the last 30 years resulted in severe flooding in parts of Fujairah and Sharjah the previous week on Thursday, with over 800 residents saved by emergency personnel. Seven individuals also died in the summer deluge.

Several volunteers took to the streets of Fujairah to take part in cleaning debris and rainwater left behind after flash floods. The volunteers were also accompanied by a member of the ruling family of Fujairah.
