Egypt records 2,053 new COVID-19 cases

The Health Ministry of the middle east country has recorded a total of 2,053 additional cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday, February 18, 2022, bringing the total tally of the confirmed infections since the beginning of the pandemic in Egypt to 465,423.

Cairo, Egypt: The Health Ministry of the middle east country has recorded a total of 2,053 additional cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday, February 18, 2022, bringing the total tally of the confirmed infections since the beginning of the pandemic in Egypt to 465,423.

A total of fifty-two COVID-19 related deaths were also recorded by the healthcare facilities on Friday. With the arrival of these additional fatalities, the total death rate of the island increased to 23,632.

Meanwhile, on Friday, 1,983 COVID-19 patients got recovered and were discharged from the hospital facilities in 24 hours. Since the start of the novel coronavirus outbreak in Egypt, a total of 397,218 recoveries have been reported.

As per the statics, in the past six weeks, the middle east nation has witnessed a decline in the daily reporting of COVID-19 infections as well as in its death rate.

In terms of the vaccination coverage rate, so far, there are a total of 39,317,370 individuals who are partially vaccinated by taking their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This number counts for around 38.4% of the total Egyptian population.

On the other hand, there are a total of 28,777,097 individuals in the middle east country who have taken their required number of the COVID-19 jabs and hence are now fully vaccinated against the viral disease. This number counts for about 28.1% of the total population.

Meanwhile, there are a total of 811,171 persons in Egypt who are fully vaccinated and has even taken their booster jabs of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines. The eligible population computes nearly about 0.8%, according to the data shared by the ministry of health.

Additionally, Egypt is among the six countries to receive technology from a European hub to produce their own mRNA vaccine. The other nations include Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, and Tunisia.
