UAE: SkyCargo transports over 1 billion doses of COVID vaccines

SkyCargo so far has managed to transport over 1 billion doses of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines via its aircraft all around the world within the time frame of just 18 months to more than 80 destinations.

The first shipment took off in the month of October 2020.

Nabil Sultan – Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Cargo, on achieving the statement, asserted, “From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Emirates SkyCargo has been focused on supporting global communities in their recovery from the devastating impacts of the mutant, and we have prioritised aid to the developing countries.” 

Following the above statement, it further added, “The strategic location of our Dubai hub has combined with the strengths of our modern fleet of widebody aircraft, our purpose-built facilities & capabilities in moving temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals permitted us to transport COVID-19 vaccines securely, reliably and rapidly from one corner of the world to another.” 

“Ahead of World Health Day, we are incredibly proud of our global Emirates SkyCargo team, who have pulled out all stops during the pandemic to keep supply chains for essential goods like vaccines up and running,” underscored Divisional Senior Vice President.  

SkyCargo, the previous year teamed up with the leading Dubai-based companies to begin a Dubai Vaccine Logistics Alliance in the month of January. It was one of the Airlines that began the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines, and by the time of early April 2021, SkyCargo had transported more than 50 million doses of vaccines, and by the month of December 2021, 600 million doses of vaccines were delivered to more than 2,300 destinations.  

In addition to this, the SkyCargo is also among one of the top global air cargo carriers for the transportation of temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical cargo. Besides COVID vaccines, it has also transported other COVID-19 medicines.
