Since the year 2015, Dubai has seen a significant increase in electric vehicle adoption around the city, with the total number of electric vehicles that are registered increasing from 71% as of December 31, 2015, to 5,107 vehicles as of January 31, 2022.

DEWA’s EV Green Charger network has risen to around 325 charging stations all over Dubai, which is equal to around 560 points. This has further supported the EV Green Charger Initiative to acquire a 97% Customer Happiness rating last year and a 93% satisfaction rating for the quality of their services.

The MD and CEO of DEWA, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, highlighted that the continuous enhancement of the EV Green Charger initiative through the use of the recent Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies of DEWA supports the Dubai Green Mobility initiative 2030, which further encourages sustainable transport in line with the Emirate’s strategic goals in terms of air quality, sustainability, and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions.

He further added, “Dewa encourages sustainable modes of transport, such as electric vehicles, to decrease carbon emissions in the transportation sector. This helps to consolidate Dubai’s status as a global capital for a green economy and sustainable development.”

Dewa has also launched many features to boost the charging of electric vehicles on its public charging network.

Once buyers register their EV with the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, Dewa makes an EV Green Charger account so that they can charge their EV within an hour.
