Two schools in the United Arab Emirates have been listed in the Top 10 shortlists for the new World’s Best School Prizes of $250,000.
A private K-12 school in Dubai, GEMS Legacy School, has been listed among the Top 10 institutions for the World’s Best School Prize for Environmental Action.
Another school located in Abu Dhabi, Shining Star International School, has also been shortlisted in the Top 10 for the World’s Best School Prize for Innovation.
T4 Education launched this initiative this year in collaboration with Accenture and American Express.
These coveted prizes were launched for the vital role the institutions play in forming the next generation of learners and for their contribution towards the progress of society.
The founder of T4 Education and the World’s Best School Prizes, Vikas Pota, stated, “With more than 1.5 billion learners affected by school and university closures, Covid had greatly worsened a world education crisis in which, even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the UN warned progress was already too slow to reach universal quality education by 2030.”
He further said that they had launched the World’s Best School Prizes as a solution to support building the systemic change required.
By telling inspirational schools’ stories about transforming their students’ lives and creating a real difference in their communities, schools can come forward with their best practices and have their voices heard at the top platform to help change education.
He then congratulated GEMS Legacy school as well as Shining Star International School for grabbing a position in the Top 10 for the inaugural World’s Best School Prizes.
