The Green Star of Michelin has also made its entry into Dubai. This star places the light on a sustainable approach to gastronomy, and Lowe was the one diner that was awarded the coveted title.

The esteemed culinary group announced the stars at a chef-studded event held at Dubai Opera on Tuesday, 21 June.

A selection of various restaurants in the value-for-money Bib Gourmand section was also disclosed, and Michelin special awards, which emphasise uniqueness and diversity, including the Welcome & Service award for the Bait Maryam team, Sommelier Award for Danijela Tesic of Ossiano and the Young Chef Award for Solemann Haddad of Moonrise.

Armani/Ristorante, Hoseki, Tasca by Jose Avillez, Al Muntaha, Ossiano, Torno Subito, 11 Woodfire, Hakkasan and Tresind Studio have been awarded one star each, which represents high-quality cooking.

Il Ristorante: Niko Romito and Stay by Yannick Alleno got two stars each for excellent cooking.

No restaurants in Dubai got the rare three Michelin stars for cuisine classified by the guide as outstanding.

The Dubai edition, which is online-only, was established in March after several years of speculation and frustration due to whether and when Michelin would bring a guide to Dubai’s shores.

Furthermore, chef Gregoire Berger of Ossiano was the major vocal advocate for a local guide.

Berger said, “The Michelin Guide coming to town is the joint accomplishment of pushing standards and limits in the region, and something many of us has been working on for some years by increasing the bar, driving sustainability and seasonality, and evolving our craft and personality.”

He further said, the coming of Michelin will eventually set higher standards for the city, bringing with it many international talents and ultimately giving Dubai the position it deserves on the global culinary scene.
