Abu Dhabi’s MBZUAI listed among top computer science institutions in world

The Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, located in Abu Dhabi, is ranked in the list of top computer science institutions worldwide.

CSRankings has listed MBZUAI in the 127th position in the world. This ranking puts the Abu Dhabi University with well-renowned institutes like the University of Liverpool, Notre Dame, the Weizmann Institute of Science, Paris’s Ecole normale superieure, Osaka University and many other esteemed international schools.

Within two years of its launch, the university has performed well in institutions that execute research in computer science, including AI, theory, and systems, as well as interdisciplinary areas like computer graphics, robotics, visualisation and much more.

MBZUAI has been ranked 30th in the world in areas on which it is presently focusing, such as AI, machine learning, computer vision and natural language processing.

For this particular area, it has been put ahead of many esteemed research universities in the world, like Georgia Tech, the University of Michigan, and the University of Toronto in North America; EPFL, Imperial College London and the Max Planck Society in Europe; Seoul National University, the University of Tokyo and the University of Sydney in the Asia-Pacific region.

MBZUAI will now be able to claim to be the highest-ranked CS institution in the Arab region and the Middle East and Africa. CSRankings also includes Israel as a part of Europe.

The Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chairman of MBZUAI’s Board of Trustees, Dr Sultan Al Jaber, stated that MBZUAI had acquired a significant milestone as it has been ranked 30th in the world by CSRankings in AI, machine learning, computer vision, and natural learning processing while placing it alongside prestigious, global research universities.

CSRankings states that this ranking is completely based on metrics. Its rankings are made to recognise institutions and faculties that are involved actively in computer science research. They consider several number of research papers and publications by the faculty that have occurred at the most particular conferences in every area of computer science.

MBZUAI was launched in October 2019 and is led by Professor Eric Xing, who works with 33 faculty members from organisations that lead the CSRankings list.

The university is dedicated towards significant growth in the forthcoming years.
