Dubai: People queued at 4 am to get signature Adidas x Ravi Restaurant shoes

People in Dubai are queuing up in the middle of the night outside The Dubai Mall's flagship Adidas store at 4m on Thursday, 23 June, to get the Adidas x Ravi Restaurant shoes as they were to go on sale at 10 am.

People in Dubai are queuing up in the middle of the night outside The Dubai Mall’s flagship Adidas store at 4m on Thursday, 23 June, to get the Adidas x Ravi Restaurant shoes as they were to go on sale at 10 am.

Tooshank Sharma is one of the customers who went crazy over these shoes and said, “I’ve been here since 4 am. This sneaker gives me a lot of nostalgia. I’ve been in Dubai for ten years, and I think this is a piece of history you must have.”

Tooshank’s patience has paid off as he was the first person to go inside the store and was able to buy five pairs of limited-edition trainers for Dh549 per piece.

The Adidas store got a makeover to go with Rvai’s green and white colour scheme.

For its launch, the flagship Adidas store was altered into a Ravi Restaurant, consisting of a faux kitchen, table and chairs, tea cups and also a tuk-tuk decorated in Ravi’s famous theme of ‘green and white’.

Another customer, Sabi, describes why he finds it so appealing. “I think this is a one-of-a-kind. The partnership with Ravi Restaurant provoked me to come here, as this is something to collect,” he says.

The walls were lined with Adidas x Ravi T-shirts and face masks, and paper waiter hats on exhibition.

One whole section of the store was dedicated to those wanting to customise their shoes. Customers can have Ravi stickers pressed on the T-shirts, including the same snippet of Ravi’s menu and price list that is on the front of the shoe, from Dh129.

Dubai’s Ravi Restaurant got an Adidas Original Superstar made for its honour.

The partnership took over 18 months to bring out the results that made customers drool over them.

While Adidas has not revealed it how many pairs of limited-edition are available, the range is predicted to sell out on Thursday, 23 June.
