More than 400 residents took part in a special run on Saturday, 25 June, organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) in Mohammed Bin Zayed City.

The event was organised to provide a chance to enhance the involvement of healthcare workers in sports events and create awareness among community members regarding staying fit in the summer season.

The run began at Burjeel Medical City around 6:30 am with active participation from residents, community groups and frontline workers.

The run had four categories of 1km, 3km, 5km and 10km around Mohammed Bin Zayed City and ended at the hospital. To take part in the run, participants are required to have a negative PCR (Covid-19) test taken not earlier than 96 hours.

The General Secretary of ADSC, Aref Hamad Al Awani, stated that they were pleased to provide a platform for runners of all levels via such events. He said that it was delightful to experience the community feeling at this event, in which healthcare workers also took part enthusiastically.

Events such as Burjeel Run reflect ADSC’s dedication towards motivating people to embrace sports and lead healthy lifestyles.

A registered nurse at Burjeel Medical City, Sheenamol Cheriyan, also one of the 40 frontline healthcare workers, participated in the event and enjoyed her time on the running tracks.
