An IndiGo Airlines flight from Sharjah, UAE, to Hyderabad, India, was diverted to Karachi in Pakistan on Sunday, July 17, because of technical issues.

The authority stated that an Indian aircraft IndiGo A320 from Sharjah to Hyderabad was shifted to Karachi because of technical reasons.

The plane then landed safely, and all passengers were safe at Jinnah International Airport at 0214 hours after clearance from air traffic control.

After taking the required measures, 186 passengers were taken to the transit lounge after the consent of the pilot.

A replacement aircraft was sent from Ahmedabad, India, to take the passengers from Karachi, Pakistan and take them to Hyderabad.

Relatives of passengers took to Twitter to ask about the flight.

The airline posted in a tweet, “We regret the experience,” which did not specify the problem.

“The flight was sent to Karachi because of technical issues and is predicted to depart by noon, it further said.

“Rest guaranteed, and our team is helping the passengers and trying its best to get them to their destination as soon as possible.”

IndiGo is the biggest airline in India, operating over 1,600 flights every day to over 70 domestic as well as 24 international destinations.

This is the second time that an Indian carrier flight was diverted to Karachi, Pakistan, in less than two weeks.

A SpiceJet flight with over 130 travellers bound for Dubai from Delhi, India, landed in Pakistan’s Karachi on July 5, after the pilot reported a doubted oil leak.

A replacement aircraft was then sent from India, and travellers finally reached Dubai after a delay of 12 hours.
