Sheikh Hamdan announces restructuring Dubai Municipality with four new institutions

The Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed authorized the restructuring, including establishing four institutions.

These organizations will be dedicated to facilities management, environment, building licensing as well as waste management.

The authorization was issued under the directives of Mohammed bin Rashid during the recent Executive Council meeting.

Sheikh Hamdan stated that the present cadres of Dubai Municipality are appreciated, thanked and trusted. We rely on them to contribute to change within the new institutions. We expect significant transformations in the organization of construction, the management of environmental affairs and the services of parks and neighbourhoods for citizens.

The restructuring will further help to lessen costs by Dh8 billion.

The Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, stated that the municipality provides 60% of the services of the city and represents the ‘social, economic and service nerve of Dubai’.

He added that Dubai Municipality has been given new and strategic tasks and has been restructured to get financial stability and quality of services and to become an exemplary entity which contributes to building Dubai’s future in a renewed way.

The executive directors of the new four institutions were also declared.

Alia Abdul Rahim Abdullah Al Harmoudi will be the Environment, Health and Safety Foundation executive director in Dubai Municipality.

Adel Mohammed Tayeb Al Marzouqi was appointed to oversee the Waste and Sanitation Corporation; Maryam Obaid Humaid Al Muhairi is managing the Building Regulation and Licensing Corporation; Nasser Hamad Khalifa Bushahab was appointed as the executive director of the Planning and Governance Sector, and Badr Ahmed Hassan Anwahi is the new executive director of the Public Utilities Corporation.

Additionally, Wissam Al Abbas Hussain Lootah is elected as the executive director of the Institutional Supper Services Sector.
