Antimicrobial resistance emerges when changes occur in bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites over time and become unresponsive to drugs afterwards, making infections difficult to treat and increasing the risk of disease, severe illnesses, and mortality.

Antibiotics and other antimicrobial drugs fail by drug resistance, and infections are increasingly tricky or untreatable.

In May 2015, the sixty-eighth World Health Association had approved a global action plan to address the agreed problem of antibiotic and other antimicrobial resistance.

One of the primary purposes of the plan is to increase awareness of the problem of antibacterial resistance and improve its understanding through contact activities, education and effective training.

The Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Bahrain calls on all sectors to increase awareness, educate and encourage caution in the use of antimicrobials and strengthen preventive measures to counter antimicrobic resistance, and work for hand in hand.

Hands-on fighting it through a unified health approach.
