Dubai: Hemaya Schools celebrates World Diabetes Day with Awareness Event

The Hemaya Schools of Dubai Police, in collaboration with Prime Hospital in Dubai, have recently organised an event to raise awareness about diabetes among the students and teaching staff on World Diabetes Day.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director of Hemaya Schools, the awareness event aims to spread health awareness and encourage students to adopt healthy lifestyles for students, teachers, and the administrative staff.

 “We are keen to raise the student’s awareness and information being spread about the effects of disease on our day-to-day life and highlight the importance of role prevention in combating the disease,” he said.

The event also included a lecture on diabetes-associated risk factors and scientific facts on the disease. Through its medical team of doctors, Prime Hospital provides the following:

Recently Dubai Police His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, participated in the ongoing Dubai Fitness Challenge’ Sports Day’.

At the end of the event, Lt. Gen. Al Marri and Mr Hareb honoured 1st Corporal Abdullah Abdulrahman Al-Hammadi for winning several local and international sports competitions and 1st Policeman Ammar Ahmed Al Khudairi for obtaining two Guinness World Records in ‘football ‘hot stepper’ ball control tricks and for winning first place in performance ball at the level of the Arab world.

Following the end of the honouring ceremony, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police and Mr Hareb toured the accompanying exhibition of the ‘Sports Open Day’ event, which included academic and heritage aspects and several sports-related activities.

The Dubai Police Rehabilitation & Readiness Enhancement Center also participated in the event through a mini-exhibit to provide the participants with advice and guidance on healthy nutrition and its relationship with weight and fitness.
