Indian MoS Muraleedharan meets Bangladesh FM Abdul Momen in Colombo, discusses common matters

Sri Lanka: The Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs of India, Vellamvelly Muraleedharan, held a meeting with the Foreign Affairs Minister of Bangladesh, Ak Abdul Momen and discussed common areas of mutual interest for both nations on Sunday, February 05, 2023.

As per the recent information, the Indian Union Minister of State met with Abdul Momen in Colombo during the visit of V Muraleedharan to attend the celebrations of the 75th Independence Anniversary of Sri Lanka. In addition, he took to his tweeter account.

He stated, “I met with Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Minister, @AKAbdulMomen at Colombo during my visit at the celebrations of Sri Lankan 75th Independence and was involved in discussions of mutual interest”.

Furthermore, V Muraleedharan also attended a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Nepal, Bimala Rai Paudyal and tweeted, “had the opportunity to meet the FM of Nepal @bimalarp and shed light on common matters during my visit to Colombo”.

During his visit, the Union Minister of India also participated in a meeting with Sri Lankan’s Foreign Minister Ali Sabry and congratulated him for their 75th Independence Day celebrations. He conveyed his greeting and best wishes on behalf of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In his statement, Muraleedharan further assured the FM of Sri Lanka, Ali Sabry, regarding the support and commitment of India to assist its neighbour country during such a hard time and economic recovery under the ideology of PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Neighbourhood First Policy’.

Additionally, he shared the meeting details through his tweet and cited, “I am delighted to have a chat with FM of Sri Lanka @alisabrypc at Colombo. Passed my greeting on their 75th Independence Day and highlighted the continued commitment of India to support Sri Lanka on its current journey of economic recovery.”

Moreover, Union Minister Muraleedharan also visited the Gangaramaya Temple during his visit to Colombo and expressed his experience through his tweeter handle; he wrote, “I prayed to the Buddha at the Gangramaya Temple, which is a sacred place in Colombo.” He further highlighted the close ties between India and Sri Lanka, rooted in civilizations and manifested through Buddhism.

As per the reports, Indian High Commissioner also met with the Sri Lankan President, Ranil Wickremesinghe, earlier in the day and extended a greeting on behalf of Prime Minister Modi on the 75th Independence Day.

In the end, he also attended an interactive session with the Indian diaspora in Sri Lanka. He pointed out their important contribution to strengthening economic and people-to-people ties between the two nations.
