October 28th has been  declared as the international creole day by UNESCO(United Nations Educational Scientific And Cultural Organisation). Since 1983, this day in Dominca has been celebrated as an opportunity to display the Creole language and culture across countries and communities, sharing the unique Creole cultural and heritage values.

It is worth mentioning that Dominica gained independence from Great Britain on November 3rd 1978. So, every year, Dominica celebrates its Independence Day on November 3rd.

Many competitions and festivals commemorate extraordinary Creole culture, including colourful creole day.

The minister also stated that during the Creole season, visitors can enjoy the Creole life, culture, cuisine, heritage and music. Carole Day is normally celebrated on the given day during the last week of October, usually on the Friday just before the World Creole Music Festival.

She added further that Creole in Dominica is a celebration of rich culture, which was inherited during both the French and British occupations. The main thing attached to Creole day is the French dialect in Dominica.

According to her Creole language in Dominica does not exist in isolation; it comes with the traditions, folklore, song, dance, dress and peculiarities of the people of Dominica.

During the Creole session, Wob is the dress of married women, and Jupe is worn by unmarried women. But over time, tradition has changed, and both wob and Jupe can be worn by anyone. , However, the man wears a white shirt,a pair of long black pants and a red sash or band is worn around the waist.

Minister also said that it is beautiful to see streets, schools,and business places full of well-dressed men and women and children. She also added that the Creole Day celebration in Dominica encourages people to use the Creole language for communication.

Minister said that Creole day in Dominica is very special, and tourists who visit the country during this season can get the opportunity to enjoy the natural paradise and unique cultural experiences.
