Deputy Prime Minster of baharin attends inaguration ceremony of first Aquaculture company

Manama: Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa recently Inaugurated the country’s first aquaculture company. He encouraged investors to Invest more in the food industry, mainly in Aquaculture, to ensure the food security of the country.

He explained the Government plans for 2023-2026, under which the government aims to support the food industry projects that will enhance the country’s food security.

During his visit to the National Aquaculture Centre at  Ras Hayyan, he made various announcements regarding the different initiatives of the Government for the food industry. At this moment, many other dignitaries were also present, including Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works and Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Khalifa, Southern Governor.

Deputy PM inaugurated the Gulf Aquaculture Company first of its first-of-its-kind project in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It will produce farmed shrimp. It is a great outcome of the partnership between different stakeholders of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and the agriculture and private sectors of the country he added.

Deputy PM also added that the first fish farming of Bahrain would ultimately encourage other investors to invest heavily in Aquaculture sector the and set similar projects to increase the National economy with the production of hygienic and super-quality food products in the country.

Deputy PM Shaikh Khalid Bin Abdulla ordered the Municipality Ministry to create a conducive environment for the investors to cultivate species that would fulfil the needs and tastes of the consumers.

Shaikh Khalid Bin Abdulla also wished his best of luck to investors for the success of the project and also expressed hope that they will be able to meet the requirements of local markets for shrimp.

Meanwhile, Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak reaffirmed that the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture is committed to encourage the private sector to boost more investment in the food industry. He added that the ministry is also building the required infrastructure for the food industry.

He also revealed that more aquaculture projects would be launched in the near future as the ministry is in the process of signing agreements with many local and regional companies.
Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, expressed his gratitude to the Deputy PM for visiting and Inaugurating the First Aquaculture farm in the country.
