Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister: GCC-ASEAN summit to be held Biennially

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, announced that GCC(Gulf Cooperation Council) ASEAN (Association Of Southeast Asian Nations) summit will be held once in two years. He also added that the summit will be held on a rotational basis in different countries to boost cooperation. He stated that  this decision has been taken to ensure the enhancement of mutual cooperation among member countries.

Prince Faisal’s comment in this regard came after the conclusion of the First GCC-ASEAN summit in Riyadh. In this first summit, long debates and discussions were hosted to take a forward step towards mutal cooperation among two groups. He was speaking at a press conference along with his Indonesian counterpart, Retno Marsudi, on Friday.

He also emphasised that the number of commonalities and significant opportunities unites between the two regions. Members of both the groups are inspired to improve the standard of living of their citizens .

The Saudi Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia also highlighted that there are huge aspiration among the member countries of GCC and ASEAN. Notably, GCC and ASEAN are regarded as the Most growing global economic block in at the world level.

He further added that this summit of two growing economic groups will give the opportunity to strengthen cooperation, coordination, and economic development work and to support joint multilateral action for mekbers countries.

When asked about the Israel-Hamas conflict, the Foreign Minister stated that there is consensus among the group members for the immediate ceasefire and permission for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip. He condemned the attack on a hospital in the Gaza Strip that caused a huge loss of life and property.The Israel and Hamas conflict has cost many lives till now  as civilians on both sides have been caught in cross-fights of warring sides.
He also said that only a permanent solution can end the cycle of conflict between Israel and the arab world.
