Iraq’s PM presides the 45th session of the Council of Minister

Baghdad: The Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, chaired a session of the Council of Ministers. This was the 45th regular session of the Council of Ministers. The objective of the session was to discuss various issues of the General importance of the country. The meeting also reviews the various government programs and schemes being implemented by concerned ministries.

Baghdad: The Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, chaired a session of the Council of Ministers. This was the 45th regular session of the Council of Ministers. The objective of the session was to discuss various issues of the General importance of the country. The meeting also reviews the various government programs and schemes being implemented by concerned ministries.

The session of the Council of Ministers took place on Tuesday, 7th October 2023. The council of ministers resolved to extend the support to Palestinian people struck in the Gaza Strip. Notably, Iraq is going to provide 10 million litres of fuel to hospitals in Gaza, that are facing a fuel shortage.

Another significant development of the meeting was to set up 30,000 housing units in the Bismaya Residential Complex. The council also sanctioned the payment of the Hanwha Company’s dues for completed work to the Bank of Rafidain. Furthermore, the National Investment Commission was empowered by the council to build the remaining 70,000 housing units with the assistance of the Korean Hanwhaa company.

It is to be added , the council also approved the resolution, which allows the changing of land type from arable to residential and also approved welfare plans for the other services, including a police station, fire station, hospitals, schools, places of worship, water and sewage facilities, restricted zones near rivers, railways, transportation and electric power infrastructure, etc.

Other important issues on which the council voted are as follows:

Ownership of the Abu Nawas was officially transferred to Baghdad municipality. Now, the municipality will oversee the Abu Nawas according to the provision of the latest laws, including the law on the ownership of expensive estates and buildings and the Iraqi Civil Code.

The council also approved the request of the Ministry of Agriculture regarding the sale of a remaining premix quantity of 1,113,995 kg. This was owned by the general company for agriculture equipment.

Another important decision taken by the council was the approval of plans to address the outstanding debt of the defence ministry and clear the debts of the Interior and Popular Mobilization Commission for medicines and medical supplies obtained from the Ministry of Health and the general company for marketing medicine and medical supplies(Kimadia).
