Saint Lucia’s team shines at OECS Table Tennis Championships

The Table Tennis team of the Caribbean nation Saint Lucia won the OECS (Organisation of Eastern Caribbean Nations) Table Tennis Championship. This championship was held from December 15 to 17, 2023, in the Dominica at Massacre Playing Field.

Six countries took part in the recent championship held in Dominica. Next year, Antigua and Barbuda will host the OCES championship.

The team of Saint Lucia displayed an excellent gaming skill and left behind the Teams of St Vincent and Grenadines as well as the team of Dominica.

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports of Saint Lucia took to social media and congratulated. The Ministry said, “Saint Lucia team dominated the OECS Table-Tennis Championships. Our young player squad defeated every team 3-0 in the Men’s Teams category for the first time.”

“In the ladies’ doubles match we have won by beating every team 3-0, and we have also secured 1st and 2nd positions in the mixed doubles. We finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the men’s doubles event. Shatal Charles became the youngest Senior OECS Champion at 13 years old. All these winners are from the 758 area code,” added the Ministry.

The social media user also appreciated the performance of the national team. One user, Al. Lynch commented, “Wow, wow, nice, good job, 758. I am very proud of you. Congratulations”.

Another user, Royal Chick Charles, commented, “Congratulations guys, keep the fire burning”. Roland C. Doldor, while commenting on the team’s performance, wrote, “Congratulation to all of you, team and staff. Keep up the amazing work”.

Similarly, many other users also commented in favour of the team. They also laud the Government of Saint Lucia and the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports for uplifting the sports standard of the country.
