Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: The General Command of the Abu Dhabi police have called on parents to monitor their children during the summer vacation as part of a ‘Safe Summer’ campaign in 2023. The campaign aims at emphasizing the need to protect them from the risks of blackmail and abuse via websites, social media, and harmful electronic games.

The officials from the Abu Dhabi Police Department have emphasized the need to protect children from bullying, threats, and harassment and recruit young children to share their photos and data and engage them in immoral activities. It was added that parents should check whether their children are indulging in such illegal and harmful activities.

The children become sensitive targets of the exploitation by criminal networks to promote drugs by sending random messages on social media containing photos, videos and voice messages promoting drugs, said the police officials.

In addition, the updates added that “Beware of subscribing or buying electronic games on websites and not disclosing credit card details to keep their confidentiality, buying through trusted websites that apply safe regulations, and using a bank card with limited credit so that they are not vulnerable to fraud and piracy,” said Abu Dhabi Police.

Furthermore, it was noted that such activities lead to a monthly deduction of the bank card in a defensive way To not deal with tempting links and fake and unreliable e-commerce that may lure customers into monetary transactions by stealing their money through their debit cards or bank accounts.

The community has been urged to be vigilant about dealing with these kid and adolescent electronic games sites that may drain more money to complete the stages of these games, putting pressure on parents alongside the danger that these sites have access to bank card information too often.

Abu Dhabi Police clarified that Aman service is a security communication channel that receives information (security, community and traffic) that works around the clock and allows community members to contribute their role in preventing the occurrence of crimes.  

The authorities have urged the citizens to report related incidents before they occur in complete confidentiality through the communication channels available as toll-free number 8002626 (AMAN2626), by text messages (2828) or by email at aman@adpolice.gov. a) Oman during the smart app of the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police.
