Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, extended best wishes to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi for re-election. PM Skerrit also expressed hope that bilateral relations will reach to new heights under Modi’s leadership.
While taking to his social media handles, PM Skerrit congratulated Narendra Modi for his third term in a row. On his official Twitter page, he added “I would like to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India for recording the historic victory in the 2024 General election.”
“I hope that the relation between both countries will get a boost under Narendra Modi, who is known for her visionary and innovative leadership,” added PM Skerrit.
It should be added that the result of 2024 India’s general election was declared on June 4. The election process was completed in seven phases spanning more than a month. Modi’s party, the BJP is the main partner of the coalition NDA (National Democratic Alliance). The NDA won 293 seats whereas the opposition block, “INDIA ” secured only 233 seats.
It is also interesting to know that the BJP alone managed to grab 240 seats and become the single largest party in Parliament. It is also worth to note that Narendra Mosi is the only leader after Jawahar Lal Nehru, who tasted success for the third time in a row for the second-top constitutional position in India.
Narendra Modi is the members of the lower house (Lok Sabha) of the Indian Parliament (Sansad). He was elected for the first time in 2014 when he won the Varanasi Parliamentary seat from Uttar Pradesh State, India. Modi became the Prime Minister for the Second time in 2019, and now he is ready to lead the nation for a third consecutive term.
Notably, the relationship between the Commonwealth of Dominica and the Republic of India is stable and strong. The Indian government sent huge medical assistance to the Caribbean island country during the Covid-19 pandemic.
India sent 70000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine (AstraZeneca) which Prime Minister Skerrit personally received at the airport. The Indian government’s e-tourist visa facility for Dominica citizens is another example of a trustworthy bilateral relationship.
