Dominica: PM Skerrit congratulates toppers of Grade six national assessment Exam 2024

Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica  extended his best wishes to the Grade six national assessment exam’s  toppers. The result was announced on June 21 during a press conference at the public service union building.

Maia Bertrand of the Ebenezer SDA primary school topped the exam this year. This year totally 820 students appear for the exam which includes the 413 boys besides 407 girls students along with three other candidates.

 

Prime Minister Skerrit took to social media and wrote on his official Facebook page“I would like to congratulate the top performers of the grade six national assessment exam. I wish Toppers all the best for a bright future.”

 

“ It is great to see the performance of Maia Bertrand of  Ebenezer SDA Presbyterian School,  Thierry Lauture from  St Mary’s Primary, D’Andre Barrie of  Ebenezer SDA Presbyterian School, Ken-G Delsol from Kelleb John Laurent Primary, Qitara Beaupierre of Pioneer Preparatory School who scored the first five positions respectively which shows their dedication” added PM.

Prime Minister Prime Minister specifically congratulated the students and management of Pineville Primary School for becoming the top performing school this year in grade six national assessment exam. Five students appeared in the exam and four of them won the scholarship.

 

It is to be added that this year’s results show that the girls’ performance is better than that of their boys counterparts. The girls outperformed the boys in almost every subject  such as Languages, Social studies, and mathematics, except science. In  science the average marks of the boys and girls students were equivalent.

 

Notably  this year  the education ministry has given scholarships to 79 students (39 girls  and 40 boys). At the same time  43 girls and 27 boys  received bursaries from the ministry.

 

On the other hand, the Education Minister Petter St. Jean, expressed concern over the poor performance of the boys and stressed the need to give equal importance to both boys and girls students.

Social media users while  reacting to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skeert’s Facebook post  also extended their best wishes to students.  One Facebook user  Hilla Wallace, commented, “Congrats to my people and all the other children. The journey continues, PENVILLE!!!” .Another user  Boukie Massicot, while commenting of PM’s post  wrote, “Congratulations to the entire school, special congratulations to SOLANGE BAZILE.”
