Dubai Police declared a donation of worth Dh1 million towards UAE’s 1 Billion Meals drive that strives to give food to the malnourished and needy in the less fortunate communities in around 50 nations.

This donation by the police force is equal to one million meals and is a major addition to the donations of other contributors to the initiative, launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), which seeks to ease worldwide hunger and fight malnutrition in unfortunate communities around the world, particularly among vulnerable groups like children, refugees, women, displaced persons and victims of tragedies and crises.

The initiative was launched during the start of Ramadan and is a continuation of last year’s 100 Million Meals, which crossed its target, collecting and disseminating around 220 million meals.

Under its efforts to provide food help to those in need, the initiative contributes to the goals of the United Nations’ Sustainability Development, especially to attain ‘zero hunger’ by 2030.

Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, emphasised that the 1 Billion Meals initiative that was organised by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai and Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, supports the UAE’s international position as a pioneer of humanitarian work.

It further increases the country’s reputation as an inspiring model for helping unfortunate societies and providing a helping hand to reduce their tribulations.

He added, “We are honoured to contribute Dh1 million to this initiative as part of our active participation in helping its humanitarian plans and objectives. We encourage everyone to unite their efforts, individuals and associations alike, to be part of this grand humanitarian mission during the Holy Month. We, at Dubai Police, reaffirm our help for all humanitarian initiatives and campaigns, in line with our idea that social responsibility is a national duty and through which we establish the noble values of the UAE.”
