Meta, the owner of Facebook, has announced its support for the 1 Billion Meals initiative, which is the largest food donation campaign in the country.Â
While marking the sacred month of Ramadan as the #MonthofGood, Meta is going to launch another campaign named #MealsForReels around the Mena region and beyond. It is a charitable movement where Meta platforms and their content creators will celebrate social and humanitarian work.
The campaign will further support the aims and objectives of the 1 Billion Meals campaign, which will give good aid to the undernourished and underprivileged in 50 countries around the world.Â
In partnership with Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), the #MealsForReels campaign will invite food bloggers, chefs as well as food enthusiasts to create “Reels” on Ramadan on Instagram and Facebook during the holy month.Â
Once the reel is published, its creator will attach a donation wallet that will be provided by MBRGI for their followers to contribute to the 1 Billion Meals drive.Â
The funds that will be raised will go to the most significant donation drive this region has ever seen, a vast community movement in which people, institutions and firms will help distribute one billion meals during the holy month of Ramadan and will also help families that are in need around 50 countries.Â
The campaign of #MealsForReels will witness more than 120 influencers and 70 content creators across the MENA region and further, including creators from Spain and the UK, coming together to take part in the fight against malnutrition and hunger, which impacts the lives of around 800 million people every day.
The influencers and content creators taking part in the #MealsForReels campaign include famous celebrity personalities such as Mohamad Henedy, Chef Shaheen Khalid Al Ameri, Chef Manal Al Alem and Karen Wazen.
Khalid Al Shehhi, Director of the New Media team for the 1 billion meals initiative, said, “The 1 Billion Meals initiative is the biggest in the area to provide food aid to those in need around the world.”
