Dubai Taxi Company Expands Fleet with 250 New Electric Vehicle Licence Plates

The Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) has announced the acquisition of 250 new licence plates, specifically for electric vehicles, as part of its ongoing efforts to align with the UAE’s sustainability goals.

This significant move, announced on Friday, will further strengthen DTC’s position as a leading provider of environmentally-friendly transportation options in the region.

With the addition of these new licence plates, DTC’s taxi fleet will see a notable increase in its share of electric vehicles, bringing the total percentage of eco-friendly cars to 87%.

This expansion is directly in line with the UAE’s Year of Sustainability, a key initiative aimed at fostering long-term environmental practices and reducing the carbon footprint across various sectors.

The acquisition will increase the size of DTC’s overall fleet to 6,210 vehicles, marking a significant leap forward in the company’s efforts to expand its services and meet the growing demand for sustainable transport options.

The introduction of these electric vehicles is expected to generate an estimated annual revenue of Dh85 million, as the fleet’s expansion not only contributes to the city’s environmental goals but also boosts the business’s profitability.

Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi, CEO of Dubai Taxi Company, highlighted the strategic importance of the acquisition, noting that it is part of a broader effort to diversify DTC’s services both within Dubai and across the wider region.

“This acquisition brings our fleet to more than 9,000 vehicles, including taxis, limousines, buses, and motorcycles. It supports DTC’s position as a leading provider of comprehensive mobility solutions, while also contributing to the revenue growth and profitability of the business,” Alfalasi said.

The addition of electric vehicles is expected to not only provide a greener alternative for passengers but also help reduce the environmental impact of the transportation sector in Dubai.
