On Wednesday, the Deputy PM attended the launch ceremony of the collateral registry. This is a kind of social scheme which will allow people to use their movable assets as collateral as they want. Earlier, some people were unable to use their farming produce, sewing machines, intellectual property rights etc as collateral registry, but now they can do so. The law passed in this regard last year, and now the registry is in place. It will benefit the middle class of the nation. No longer the registry will be available only to people who have houses, land and cash that can qualify for credit and loans.

On Friday, Deputy PM Ernest Hilare attended the Sod Turning for the Gros Islet Beach Park, also known as Simple’s Park. This Park is the brainchild of Simon Philip, due to which it is known as Simple. The Project is part of various schemes for the redevelopment of the Gros Islet Waterfront. The importance of this project is that it is consistent with the Government’s approach to boosting the tourism industry to make it world-class and promote more local involvement and ownership. This is a classic community tourism project – it allows both locals and visitors to enjoy the beauty of Saint Lucia whenever they want.

Last night, Deputy PM attended National Youth Awards Ceremony. It was a continuing statement of commitment to recognising and promoting the youth of the country as the change drivers of today, creating a priority in their favour and putting them at the centre of national development. He appreciated the announcement of the Henry Charles Fellow in Youth Development; Dr. Charles did not just advocate for youth development. He lived and believed in youth.

Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire also took to his social media handle and wrote in detail about these activities. Social media users praised the participation of the Deputy PM In these activities. One user, Alison Pascal, commented “Great ! Keep writing these kinds of reviews, just in case we missed out on an update or the launch of a significant project of Saint Lucia”.
