Middle East, Egypt: The Minister of Tourism and Archaeology, Mr Ahmed Issa, has recently received the Ambassador Nikolaos Garilidis, the Ambassador of the State of Greece, at the headquarters of the Ministry in the new administrative capital, Cairo. The meeting was held yesterday, June 20, 2023, to explore ways to enhance the cooperation between the two countries on the tourism and archaeological level.
 As per recent information, the Ministry of Tourism and Archaeology has shared a glimpse of the meeting through the Ministry’s official social media handle.Â
The shared update read, “The Minister of Tourism and Archaeology Ahmed Issa is seeking with the Greek ambassador in Cairo ways to enhance cooperation on the tourism and archaeological level.”
 At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister welcomed the Ambassador, emphasizing the depth of historical, political and cultural relations that link Egypt and Greece, which witness cooperation in many spheres, notably tourism and archaeology.
 During the meeting, ways to boost cooperation to push more tourism from Greece to Egypt, to organize joint regional promotional campaigns in the Mediterranean, and joint tourism programs between the two countries to attract tourists from far-fetched targeted markets eager to visit Egypt and Greece were discussed, as well as cooperation in the field of yacht tourism.
 The meeting was attended by Mr Amr Al-Qady, the executive president of the General Egyptian Authority for Tourism Activism, Mrs Yomuna Al-Bahar, the assistant of the Minister of Tourism and Monuments for artistic affairs, and Counselor Amr Abdullah, the general supervisor of the general department of international relations and agreements of the Ministry.
 It is worth noting that there are several cooperation agreements between Egypt and Greece in the field of tourism, among them a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2012 and a Cooperation Protocol signed in 2017.Â
A trilateral agreement between Egypt and Greece and Cyprus was also signed in 2014, as there are two archaeological missions from Greece working in Egypt, in addition to cooperation Within the framework of the Forum of Ancient Civilizations.
