Dominica: An emerging marketing and advertising professional named Nathalie Walsh from the Commonwealth of Dominica has gained years of experience in building an engaging marketing strategy and in the field of planning and management and is appointed as the Events and Festival Manager at the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA).

As per the recent updates, Nathalie Walsh took over as the event and festival manager on March 13, 2023. Walsh will be fulfilling her responsibilities and duties in her new role regarding the smooth execution of signature entertainment events of Dominica called – Mas Domnik – The Real Mas, and The World Creole Music Festival, along with Jazz n’ Creole and several smaller events.

In addition, Walsh gained a position and earned a name for herself in her respective field as the Commercial Head and Sales and Marketing Manager for a telecommunications company popularly known as DIGICEL during the time period 2006 to 2017.

As per the sources, Walsh had also served as the former Head of Distribution and Marketing for the company named Fine Foods Inc. and Group of Companies from (2018 – 2021). 

She has recently completed her time period of consultancy in the Telegraph and Telephone Company of Guyana. In addition, she took off her career as Marketing Manager from Courts Dominica Ltd. (2002 – 2005).

Moreover, the Dominica Festivals Committee shifted its focus primarily on showcasing several festivals of Dominica, including music, culture, arts and major events both in international and regional markets, said sources.

On her part, Walsh noted that she is quite excited to work with the team to inspire their existing along with new and upcoming events sponsors and partners to drive the industry in a good direction in terms of organizing such large-scale events in the country. 

She added that her team aims to create a fusion of brands with excellent content, which would be supported by the industry’s leading experts and change makers.

Additionally, Denise Charles, Minister of Tourism, has extended her warm welcome to Nathalie Walsh, the new head of the events and festivals in the DFC/DDA team. 

She further noted that Walsh comes with previous experience and leadership skills which would help her to drive the pillars of entertainment and events of the Ministry of Tourism.

The sources confirmed that following the appointment of Walsh as the new head of DFC and DDA, she has been tasked to uplift standards and user experience at the venues of events, along with an increase in visitor arrivals to meet arrival targets of 2025.

Nathalie Walsh’s first order as the head of DDA and DFC is the Jazz’n Creole which is a fusion and mix of jazz and creole music with fashion, food and culture, which is all set to commence at Fort Shirley in the Cabrits National Park on April 30.
