PM Skerrit invites Dominicans to official groundbreaking ceremony of new International Airport

The PM made this announcement during the signing of the contract for the construction of the Colihaut River Defence Wall. He expressed satisfaction over the progress of the ongoing construction work on the new international airport.

Through an official update on Facebook, he said,, “I recently had a brief visit to the project site of the new international airport in Dominica. The official groundbreaking  ceremony will take place on November 9, which will open new opportunities in the country’s aviation and tourism sectors.”

PM Skerrit  also met with representatives of Montreal Management Consultants and the contractors, China Railway No. 5, there. He received information from them about various aspects of the project.

“This project will be unique for the country’s economic growth. I would like to invite you to this historical groundbreaking ceremony on November 9” added Prime Minister Skerrit.

It is worth noting that, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit many important projects including this new airport project are being executed in the country.

At the project site, the PM also said that this project will be a milestone for the country’s economic progress, as it will connect the country with many international airports worldwide. The enhanced connectivity will contribute to increased tourist footfall.

Notably the Dominica’s government signed the contract for airport construction with the MMCE on June 9, 2021. The main objective is to welcome the flights of the biggest airlines from different countries.

On the other hand, while reacting to PM Skerrit’s Facebook post, social media users also lauded the announcement. One Facebook user Annette Poponne commented, “May the Almighty God guide and protect you to shoulder this responsibility. It is not easy, but you make it look very easy. We are very proud of your accomplishments.”
