Qatar University leads in 3MT National Competition

Doha: The students of Qatar University have recently dominated the National 3MT (three minutes) competition. Students of the 17 universities participated in the competition. The competition involves the students of the Master’s and PhD courses. The students must explain their research to an audience within three minutes(3MT).

 Many dignitaries, including Dr Omar Al-Ansari, President of Qatar University (QU), and representatives from various universities, were present during their competition. It is to be specifically mentioned that the National 3MT Competition is sponsored by ConocoPhillips Qatar.

Winners were announced during a ceremony held at Qatar University. Fatima Mohammed Qafoud, a PhD student in Biomedical Sciences at the College of Health Sciences at QU, achieved first place.

Similarly, Second place was claimed by Soukayna Ait Hammou, a Master’s student in Media and Cultural Studies from the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. At the same time, the third place was awarded to Asma Anwar Elashi, a PhD student in Genomics and Precision Medicine at the College of Health and Life Sciences at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU).

Dr. Omar Al-Ansari, President of QU, In his address stressed the importance of organizing such a prestigious graduate student competition. He further said, “Today, we celebrated the achievements of some brightest students in the country. We are happy to host students from around Qatar on our university campus with a spirit of friendly competition and student experience. He said this morning, we will listen to 17 outstanding students who represented the nine universities of the country.”

He also said that the participants of the competition will help us understand the significance of research .Moreover, These students will take us on an exciting journey that not only displays their achievements but also shows the quality of education in our country.

Notably, The National 3MT Competition of university students celebrates the diversity of research projects in Qatar, spanning various disciplines. Each presentation will allow us to look into the future as the finalists address some of the most challenging issues being faced by our society Today.

He expressed his deep gratitude to the dedicated sponsors of this competition, ConocoPhillips Qatar, for their unconditional support of higher education in the country, as well as the esteemed panel of judges who evaluated the student’s talent.

Professor Mariam Al-Maadeed, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies at Qatar University, expressed that, “I appreciate the final contestants and their outstanding skill of presentation, their dedication to research and innovation, and their skill to convey ideas.
