RTA Unveils Key Bridge Linking Jumeirah Street to Infinity Bridge to Ease Traffic Congestion

The 985-metre bridge, featuring two lanes, has been designed to accommodate up to 3,200 vehicles per hour, and is expected to drastically ease congestion in the area

Dubai, UAE – April 19, 2025 — Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially opened a major new bridge connecting Jumeirah Street to Al Mina Street in the direction of the Infinity Bridge, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project.

The 985-metre bridge, featuring two lanes, has been designed to accommodate up to 3,200 vehicles per hour, and is expected to drastically ease congestion in the area.

By facilitating uninterrupted traffic flow, the bridge will cut travel time by 67% — from 12 minutes to just 4 minutes — for motorists travelling from Jumeirah Street towards the Infinity Bridge via Al Mina Street.

Crucially, the new route allows drivers to bypass traffic signals entirely, significantly improving the overall driving experience.

The bridge is part of Phase 4 of the ambitious Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, one of the largest infrastructure undertakings in Dubai.

This phase stretches 4.8 kilometres from the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Road and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to the Falcon Intersection on Al Mina Street.

In a statement, the RTA highlighted that Phase 4 includes the construction of five additional bridges, with a combined length of 3.1 kilometres. These will collectively support up to 19,400 vehicles per hour across all lanes, further enhancing the traffic capacity of the area.

The current upgrades also extend to key surface intersections along Jumeirah Street, Al Mina Street, and Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Street.

Additionally, plans are underway for the construction of two pedestrian bridges — one located on Sheikh Rashid Road and another on Al Mina Street — aimed at improving safety and accessibility for pedestrians navigating the busy corridor.

“The new bridge forms part of our broader vision to improve Dubai’s infrastructure and ensure smoother, safer commutes for all road users,” the RTA said in an official announcement. “It will play a pivotal role in supporting both current and future traffic demands as Dubai continues to grow.”

The Al Shindagha Corridor Project is a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing mobility and supporting economic development across several vital districts, including Bur Dubai, Deira, and the Dubai Creek area.

Upon full completion, the project is expected to significantly reduce travel times and improve connectivity between major arterial roads in the emirate.

Looking ahead, another key element of the corridor improvement is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2025 — a 780-metre, three-lane bridge connecting Infinity Bridge to Al Wasl Street via Al Mina Street.

Once operational, it will be able to handle up to 4,800 vehicles per hour, further strengthening the transport network in central Dubai.

The opening of the new bridge marks continued progress in Dubai’s commitment to investing in advanced infrastructure to meet the needs of a fast-growing population and a dynamic urban landscape.
