Usmanov has also encountered sanctions by the European Union commission amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the sources in the yacht industry underscored.

As per Forbes, the yacht is known as ‘Dilbar’ and was taken to the northern port of Hamburg. The 512-feet yacht was experiencing the refitting procedure in the shipyards of Blohm + Voss. The German government has held the yacht, and the employees working on the yacht did not appear for the work. 

So far, no official statement has yet been provided by the Blohm + Voss. Not only on Usmanov, but the European Union has also imposed sanctions on other 25 prominent personalities amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the official journal of the commission further notes. 

According to the ship-tracking data, a total of five superyachts of the Russian billionaires were anchored or were seen cruising on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, in the Maldives, which is an Indian Ocean island country that does not have an – extradition treaty with the United States of America.  

Following the present situation of Russia and Ukraine, numerous countries, as well as many international organisations such as – the EU, imposed sanctions on Russia in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. 

Alisher Burkhanovich Usmanov is an Uzbek-born Russian business magnate and oligarch who is expected to have a net worth of $19.5 billion as of 2022, reported by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index of this year. 

Most of Usmanov’s net worth is being built by metal, mining operations, and investments. He holds the majority of shareholders of Metalloinvest and is the owner of the Kommersant publishing house. Usmanov is also the co-owner of the world’s second-largest mobile telephone operator, MegaFon, and owner of Udokan copper.
