COVID in Saudi Arabia: 664 new cases and 2 deaths recorded by health ministry

The health ministry of Saudi Arabia, in its daily COVID-19 report, confirmed on Friday, February 25, 2022, that a total of 664 additional cases of the novel coronavirus were recorded in the last 24 hours.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: The health ministry of Saudi Arabia, in its daily COVID-19 report, confirmed on Friday, February 25, 2022, that a total of 664 additional cases of the novel coronavirus were recorded in the last 24 hours. This hikes the total number of confirmed infections of the COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia to 743,205.

Among these new cases, the highest was recorded by the healthcare facilities of the capital city Riyadh (172), followed by Jeddah with 50, Dammam with 41, Madinah confirmed 25, and Makkah recorded 23.

According to the health ministry, there are a total of 637 COVID-19 patients who are at present in critical condition. Along with new cases, 2 COVID-19 related fatalities were also recorded in the Kingdom in 24 hrs, as of Friday.

The overall death rate amid pandemic in Saudi Arabia has increased to 8,993, the data further states. Meanwhile, 1,409 patients recovered from the contagious viral disease, taking the total recovery rate of Saudi Arabia to 720,388 so far.

In terms of the vaccination rate, to date, there are 25,792,668 individuals in the Kingdom who have taken their at least first dose of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines and are partially vaccinated against the deadliest illness, representing nearly 74.1% of the total population.

On the other hand, there are a total of 23,964,566 persons in the Middle East country who have taken their recommended number of the novel coronavirus vaccines and hence are in the category of the fully immunised population. This number counts for around 68.8% of the total population.

The booster shots are also being administered in the country. So far, 9 904,609 citizens of Saudi Arabia are fully vaccinated and have also taken their booster shots, according to the data. This number computes and represents 28.5% of the total eligible population of Saudi Arabia.
