UAE: NCEMA issues guidelines for Ramadan 2022

The Middle East nation has announced the COVID-19 containment measures for Ramadan 2022, which is expected to descend on April 2.

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Middle East nation has announced the COVID-19 containment measures for Ramadan 2022, which is expected to descend on April 2. The National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) on Monday announced the guidelines, which includes visiting iftar tents and other social distancing policies.  

As per the guidelines of NCEMA, presenting a green pass and wearing a mask will be mandatory for the individuals while entering the premises of iftar tents. Meanwhile, to set up iftar tents, permission is must to take from the Emirates Red Crescent.

It further added to ensure proper regulation of individuals’ entry and exit, either security guards or volunteers must be deployed at every Ramadan tent. NCEMA further announced that, in every emirate, the Local Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management committees are granted the power to reject or approve the installation of any iftar tent, adding that it will also be holding the responsibility of deciding the number of individuals who will be permitted to enter the tents. 

The committee will be performing its duties in coordination with ERC, NCEMA stated, adding that the tents will be only open for a time period of two hours only, before the Iftar (Maghrib prayer) so as to prevent crowding. 

The official Twitter handle of NCEMA tweeted, “In line with the strategy of the #الإمارات country in maintaining the health and safety of society in light of the continuation of various activities, and in support of national efforts to achieve sustainable recovery and the return of a new normal life, #الطوارئ_والأزمات announces a protocol for setting up fasting iftar tents for the holy month of Ramadan.”  

As per regulation, it is mandatory to establish tents in the shape of an Umbrella, adding that single-use tablecloths are must be used by the tents hosts. 

NCEMA further advised the tents hosts to use only disposable plates, glasses, and spoons.
