Dubai: Doctors successfully removes 4.4kg muscle tumour

Doctors at Al Tadawi successfully removed a 4.4kg muscle tumour, 29 cm in length, from the uterus of a 40-year-old patient.

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Doctors at Al Tadawi successfully removed a 4.4kg muscle tumour, 29 cm in length, from the uterus of a 40-year-old patient. It is so far the largest uterine tumours to be removed via surgery. 

Another 5cm tumour has also been removed from the uterus of the patient, who is now totally fine. The doctors stated that the woman would be able to conceive in future, as no harm to the uterus has been reported.

The surgery took 3 hours to remove the tumour, which was similar to the weight of a 9-month-old foetus, performed by a highly skilled team of Doctors. The woman only lost 250 millilitres of blood during the rare difficult surgery. 

No post-surgery complications have been reported in the patient’s health by the doctors. Meanwhile, the removed tumour will be further sent to the lab for research. 

Marwan Ibrahim Al-Haj Nasser- who is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tadawi Group, speaking on the success of the surgery and praising the efforts of the hospital staff, stated, “The successful surgery is yet another testament to the global standards and world-class capabilities of Dubai’s advanced healthcare sector.”

Following the above statement, he further added, “We are proud to contribute to realising the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to establish Dubai as the region’s hub for world-class medical services and treatment.” 

The team of doctors who performed the surgery includes – Dr Anna Kacarska, Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Dr Gautam Lahiri, General Surgeon, Dr Adel Khalil, Consultant Urologist, and Dr James Donato, Anesthesiologist.

At starting, the case was reported to and under the supervision of Dr Mohammad Hamad Mohammad. After some tests, it was found that the patient had a large tumour.
