The government of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, has announced new measures regarding COVID-19 safety protocols for the occasion of Eid Al Fitr.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office announced the revised safety standards through a tweet on their official Twitter handle on Saturday, 30 April. Worshippers have been urged to wear their face masks and maintain social distancing protocols while participating in the early morning prayers of Eid Al Fitr.
Several precautionary measures have been allocated to be followed during Eid prayer.
The following categories of individuals are urged to avoid attending public Eid prayers:
- Seniors over the age of 60
- Children under the age of 12
- Those with severe diseases or respiratory conditions (or showing symptoms of the latter)
- People who are in contact with Covid-19 patients
Preventive measures for mosque attendees:
- Perform ablution at home
- Keep a physical distance of at least 1m
- Sanitise hands before and after prayers
- Bring personal prayer mats
- Wear face masks
Preventive measures for social activities:
- Limit large gatherings and celebrate with family members and close relatives
- Wear masks and keep a physical distance of at least 1m, especially from the elderly or those with chronic diseases
- Avoid gifting cash and send money digitally instead
- Elderly and patients with chronic conditions are advised to limit outings where possible
- Avoid gathering and shaking hands after Eid prayers
These measures have been revised keeping in mind the safety and security of the general public and to keep the infection in control. Although there have been zero deaths in the UAE since the last month, still there are some people still battling with Corona infection (Covid-19) and are still recovering from the same.
The government officials have urged people to follow these preventive measures so that no resident or citizen comes in contact with this deadly coronavirus.
