Dubai reports an increase of almost 214% in number of visitors, states Sheikh Hamdan

Dubai welcomed almost 4 million international visitors overnight during the first three months of 2022, which is up from 1.27 million visitors for the same period in 2021, representing a vast 214% year over year (YoY) visitation growth.

This puts the city firmly on track for a significant year while reassuring Dubai’s position as the preferred choice for travellers worldwide. Dubai has also been ranked as first in the world in hotel occupancy during the first three years of 2022, with 82% of occupancy.

The Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, stated, “Dubai’s capability to outperform other major global cities in key tourism indicators shows the success of the far-reaching vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make a hub for business, investment, entrepreneurship as well as tourism that rivals the world’s best.

He further stated, “The strength of His Highness’s idea and his steadfast determination to make it an actuality have allowed Dubai to overpower the most difficult global challenges, including the repercussions of the current worldwide health crisis, to make a destination that offers rich value for travellers whether they are staying for leisure or business.”

As per the latest data that the department of Economy and Tourism released, Dubai, during the ongoing Arabian Travel Market (ATM), the first three months of international visitation reflected the best performance during the first quarter since the worldwide pandemic, making a clear way for the city to go towards its coveted goal to become the most visited destination of Dubai.

The month of March in 2022 was basically an exceptional month for post-pandemic tourism arrivals, as the Emirate welcomed 1.78 million visitors from all over the world, which is an 11% increase over pre-pandemic visitation.
