Crown Prince of Dubai introduces Dubai Robotics and Automation (R&A) Programme

United Arab Emirates: The Crown Prince of Dubai- H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, introduced the 'Dubai Robotics and Automation (R&A) Programme' to promote the development, testing and adoption of R&A as well as accelerate the use of its application in vital economic sectors.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, introduced the ‘Dubai Robotics and Automation (R&A) Programme’ to promote the development, testing and adoption of R&A as well as accelerate the use of its application in vital economic sectors.

The launch occurred at the time of His Highness’s visit to Dubai Future Labs – an applied research as well as development facility specialised in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.

The new initiative that has taken place will increase Dubai’s regional and global leadership as well as strengthen its reputation as a city with one of the highest levels of readiness in the world to adopt future technologies.

Moreover, Sheikh Hamdan mentioned in the statement, “The Dubai Robotics and Automation Programme aims to increase the sector’s contribution to Dubai’s GDP to 9 percent within ten years. We seek to make Dubai one of the world’s top 10 cities in R&A by adopting as well as developing advanced robotics technologies, empowering national talent, and generating innovative new solutions, products, and services.”

The Programme is led by the Dubai Future Foundation, which features five key initiatives, and will focus on accelerating research and development in five areas.

As a part of the Programme, about 200,000 robots will be given over the coming ten years to increase efficiency as well as productivity in various sectors, including services, logistics, as well as the industrial sector, and enhance the competitiveness of Dubai’s economy.

Along with this, Sheikh Hamdan highlighted that Dubai’s advanced infrastructure, as well as its talented workforce, give it many competitive strengths in this rapidly growing global industry.

The main focus of the emirate will be on advancing R&D in five main areas in the sector –
