While for those of you with students not attending an Indian school, many institutions allow children to come in wearing traditional dress.

Several GEMS Indian schools have scheduled days off.

These include:

  • GEMS Millennium School, Sharjah (GMS)
  • GEMS Legacy School – Dubai (GLS)
  • GEMS Modern Academy – Dubai (MHS/GMA)
  • GEMS New Millennium School, Al Khail (NMS)
  • GEMS Our Own Indian School, Dubai (OIS)
  • GEMS Our Own English High School, Sharjah Boy (OOB)
  • GEMS Our Own English High School, Dubai (OOD)
  • GEMS Our Own English High School, Sharjah Girls (OOS)
  • The Millennium School, Dubai (TMS)
  • GEMS United Indian School, Abu Dhabi (UIS)

For some, the move comes as an extension of the mid-term break that has already started in schools.

Aside from GEMs facilities, Springdales School Dubai is honouring Diwali with holidays set aside on Monday and Tuesday, while the Delhi Private School Dubai (DPS) will also be closed.

Most institutions will return to regular schooling hours by Wednesday, October 26.

It won’t just be schools respecting Diwali, either, with Dubai setting itself up as one of the top locations in the world to celebrate the festival of light.

The famous Burj Khalifa of Dubai will feature an incredible light show on the most prominent Indian festival, With the world’s tallest skyscraper illumination Downtown in Dubai in 2021.
