Cairo, Egypt: The Minister of Higher Education is looking for ways to boost scientific cooperation with the American Agency for International Development.

Dr Ayman Ashour praised the fruitful and continuous cooperation with the American Agency for International Development.

The director of the American Agency for International Development Mission affirms the Agency’s keenness to support the priorities of Egypt’s 2030 sustainable development goals. He praises the partnership between the American Agency for International Development and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Egypt.

According to the update by Received the Dr Ayman Ashour, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sean Jones, the Director of the Mission of the New Agency for International Development in Egypt (USAID), and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Dr Mohamed Samir Hamza, Head of the Cultural Affairs and Broadcasting Sector in the Ministry, Dr Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister for Strategic Planning, Training and Rehabilitation for the Labour Market, at the Special Education Complex, New Cairo.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister thanked the US Agency for International Development team in Egypt for their fruitful and constructive efforts during the past years in cooperating with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in many projects, initiatives, educational and research activities. The Ministry certainly made sure to activate more inter-party cooperation, and looks forward to that The period ahead sees more joint cooperation and fruitful partnerships in the light of Egyptian-American relations; to boost development efforts in Egypt, especially in the fields of higher education and scientific research.

Accordingly, as the Dr paid homage Ayman Ashour supports the American Agency for International Development for Higher Education Strategy and Scientific Research by supporting several programs and projects that contribute to setting up mechanisms for the implementation of higher education and scientific research strategies in Egypt, emphasizing the importance of fostering more cooperation in programs, projects and activities that contribute to the achievement of strategic principles The National Institute for Higher Education and Scientific Research, the rising of the system of higher education and scientific research in Egypt, signaling the importance of regularizing higher education, and the exchange of experience between Egyptian universities and their American counterparts in achieving the priorities of the country’s development plan, and the goals of sustainable development (Egypt Vision 2030).

Additionally, the Dr pointed out Ashour to the launch of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Egyptian Initiative for Scholarships and Educational Tourism, Initiative (EGYAID); aimed at preparing a graduate integrated with walls and skills, capable of innovating and participating in entrepreneurship, in addition to access the latest international programs, dual certificates awarded to Egyptian universities and educational institutions in many programs Distinguished in cooperation with the major prestigious international universities, so that incoming students have an exceptional educational opportunity in Egypt amidst different cultures.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the most important projects, initiatives, programs and activities supported by the American Agency for International Development in the field of higher education and scientific research in Egypt, among them: the project of establishing professional development centers in Egyptian universities; of which up to 46 professional development centers in Egypt’s universities in the next phase; with the goal of building professional capacities for students and graduates and weight Skill their skills in line with the needs of the local, regional and international labor market, by providing training programs that meet the needs of the labor market, linking educational programs to modern and future jobs, as well as the Pioneers and Egyptian Scientists funded by the American Agency for International Development, where the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research cooperates with the American University Administering and executing Cairo, the program includes providing grants to develop the capacity of human staff in the public and private sectors in accordance with the goals of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research serving the areas of development in Egypt, and other projects and programs, in addition to scholarships, training programs to build the capacities of faculty members, young researchers, as well as promoting More cooperation on research projects in areas of mutual interest between Egyptian researchers and their peers in U.S. universities, in addition to the provision of more short term grants in disciplines that are the priority for the country’s development plan.

The meeting also discussed the partnership between the American Agency for International Development and higher education institutions in Egypt; to increase competitiveness in the energy and water sectors through the establishment of the Centers of Excellence for Energy and Water, which support research projects, exchange of knowledge, experience and training, and develop curriculum in these sectors.

For his part, Sean Jones praised the close and ongoing partnership and cooperation between the American Agency for International Development and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Agency has emphasized to support cooperation relations with Egypt in various areas, especially education, research and projects of mutual interest, contributing to the achievement of strategic goals of higher education and scientific research In Egypt, to uplift the education sector in Egypt, to strengthen partnership with Egyptian universities in a number of programs that contribute to the development of strategic policies and practices; to meet the challenges that face the achievement of development goals, as well as to cooperate in training programs; to acquire students and graduates the necessary skills for the job market.
