Saint Lucia: PM Philip J Pierre Mourns death of Leton Thomas

Philip J Pierre, the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia extended condolences on the demise of Leton Thomas- a prominent figure in the Ministry of Education

Sir Leton Thomas is a famous figure of the Caribbean country Saint Lucia. He was the first Principal of Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, and also served in various capacities at the Ministry of Education.

Sir Leton Thomas was born in the year 1926 and died on January 17, 2024 at the age of 97 years. During his life, he held many significant designations in the Government as well as international organisations.

He was a senator of the upper chamber of Saint Lucia’s Parliament. He also served as St. Lucia’s representative on the executive board of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).

PM Philip J Pierre took to his social media handles and shared his sympathies with the family while remembering and acknowledging the contribution of Sit Leton Thomas.

PM Philip J Pierre stated in his Facebook post, “The news of the death of Sir Leton Thomas was met with sadness and, at the same time, fond memories that we shared when I was a child. To his family, I extend my sincerest condolences to you as you grieve his loss and reflect on his life of service to this country”.

“The Government and the People of Saint Lucia will remember him for his lasting legacy, which has engendered national pride, particularly when we hear those melodious notes of our National Anthem. Thank you for your many contributions, Sir Leton.
May his soul rest in peace.
