The UAE is bracing for unstable weather conditions over the next few days, with rainfall, strong winds, and rough seas expected across various regions, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).

The weather is forecast to remain unpredictable until Thursday, December 28, 2023, due to a combination of a surface low-pressure system extending from the southeast and an upper air low-pressure system.

The NCM warned that the interaction between the surface low-pressure system and the cold air mass from the west could lead to the formation of clouds across the country.

This is likely to trigger convective activity at times, with the potential for rainfall at intervals over some coastal areas, islands, and the northern and eastern regions.

The weather will generally be partly cloudy to cloudy, with periods of rain expected to affect several areas of the UAE.

On Sunday night, a few regions of the country already experienced rain, and residents should continue to prepare for similar weather conditions in the coming days.

“The combination of the surface low-pressure system from the southeast and the upper air low-pressure system interacting with a cold air mass could lead to the development of clouds in various parts of the country,” said a statement from the NCM. “The convective activity expected may bring rainfall to coastal and northern regions.”

In addition to the rain, strong upper-air winds from the west will contribute to gusty conditions, with the wind direction gradually shifting from southeasterly to northeasterly and northwesterly.

Wind speeds could increase at times, leading to blowing dust and sand over land areas, particularly in open and desert regions. Travelers and drivers are urged to exercise caution, especially in areas with poor visibility.

The sea conditions are also expected to be affected, with the possibility of rough seas at times, particularly in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea. Active cloud cover could intensify the roughness, making maritime activities challenging, especially in the affected regions.

With the weather expected to remain unpredictable, residents and visitors are advised to stay updated on the latest forecasts from the NCM, particularly if traveling in areas where rainfall or reduced visibility may occur.

In line with these weather changes, the UAE has also seen a series of remarkable weather events this month. On Sunday night, several areas across the country were hit by rain, causing temporary disruptions in some places.

The NCM forecast that such sporadic rainfall could continue in the coming days, with potential localized thunderstorms in some regions.

As the UAE continues to prepare for the weather changes, local authorities and emergency services are on alert to respond to any potential disruptions.

The public is urged to stay informed about weather updates and follow safety guidelines to ensure a safe and smooth experience during this period of instability.
