Egypt: Four universities comes in list of top 50 universities

In the recently released list of Shanghai rankings for top universities for 2023, four Egyptian universities are included in the list of the top 50 global universities. Egyptian university's competition with world rankings signifies the qualification of a generation of young people capable of booming in all development spheres.

In the recently released list of Shanghai rankings for top universities for 2023, four Egyptian universities are included in the list of the top 50 global universities. Egyptian university’s competition with world rankings signifies the qualification of a generation of young people capable of booming in all development spheres.

Dr. Ayman Ashour, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed that the Ministry had provided all kinds of support to Egyptian universities to achieve progress at the level of all global rankings of universities. Moreover, this support will continue in future.

The education minister also pointed to the release of the results of the report of the Shanghai Ranking of Scientific Specialties for 2023, which ensures the success story of Egyptian university’s new progress in this year’s results by including 4 Egyptian universities in the list of the top 50 global universities for scientific specialities.

This ranking was based on the progress in 3 subfields, namely (medical engineering, textile science, and agricultural sciences. In the field of biomedical engineering, Cairo University Stood 30th globally.In the field of textile sciences and engineering, Alexandria University ranked 49th globally.

At the same time, in the field of agricultural sciences, Al-Zagazig University ranked 33rd globally, Kafr El-Sheikh University ranked 39th globally, and Alexandria University ranked 45th globally.
Meanwhile, Abeer Al-Shatir, Assistant Minister for Technical Affairs and Supervisor of the Knowledge Bank, stressed the importance of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank in providing the vast amount of scientific resources needed to Egyptian researchers, scientists and decision-makers to promote scientific research in Egypt.

This has enabled the research institutions to become world-renowned, as well as contributing to the upliftment of An international ranking of universities, institutions, and research centres.

On his part, Dr Adel Abdul Ghafar, the spokesman and media advisor of the Ministry of Higher Education, confirmed that the performance of Egyptian universities in the Shanghai ranking indicators of scientific disciplines is due to several actions.

These actions have been taken during the past period, and the most important fact is the technical support provided by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to Egyptian universities, as well as training on international publication.

He also stressed that the Ministry is committed to upscale the level of education in the country in the near future.
