It is worth mentioning that Prime Minster Philip J. Pierre is currently serving as spokesperson for climate change on behalf of the CARICOM community. He will attend the COP summit from November 30 to December 5, 2023.

Notably, COP is an initiative to encourage nations to take effective steps against the growing threat of climate change. Moreover, the main objective of the COP28 is to make effective measures to uphoad the previous commitments made in Paris in the year 2015. 

The Caribbean nation are also vulnerable to climate change. SIDS(small island development states ) are among the list of Caribbean nations that are facing the heat of climate change. 

PM Philip J. Pierre took to his social media handles to infrom regarding his presence at COP Dubai. He stated that “I am attending #COP28 in Dubai along with other international leaders and organisations we we want to address the crisis of climate change.The message remains the same: the power to turn things around lies in our collective hands. We should be focused and resolute. We cannot vacillate on the matter of Human survival, especially in small island developing states”.

Social media user also lauds the PM for highlighting the 

issue of the Caribbean nation on the world platform. One user, Viopla Joseph, commented, “Go and respect our people. God be with you, PM Philip J. Pierre”. Lucian Survivor stated “Go out there and represent your people my PM”.

 Similarly, Catherine Maxwell Justin, while appreciating the Prime Minister, commented that “our Prime Minister In action Go be brave for your country”.

It is worth mentioning that the presence of Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre confirmed the commitment of the Caribbean region to climate change action. 

The negative effect of climate change has affected all the countries of the world. Environmentalists, as well as the scientific community, express concern over this growing threat.COP is also a step to decrease the side effects of climate change.
