According to news reports in the country’s media, Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s national security adviser, was received by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Monday.

Sheikh Tahnoon arrived in Tehran this morning, leading a high-profile team of Emirati officials on an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The purpose of Sheikh Tahnoon’s visit to Iran is to discuss bilateral relations as well as to exchange opinions on recent regional developments. Sheikh Tahnoon was also received by Admiral Ali Shamkhan, the Iranian National Security Advisor, who met with him for a short period of time.

Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, diplomatic assistant to the president of the United Arab Emirates, stated last month that the UAE is exercising steps to de-escalate stresses with Iran as element of a strategy shift away from confrontation and toward diplomacy with the Islamic Republic.

The UAE’s efforts to strengthen communication and cooperation bridges in the region, according to Gargash, will continue with Sheikh Tahnoon’s visit to Tehran, which “comes as a continuation of the UAE’s efforts to strengthen communication and cooperation bridges in the region that would serve the national interest.”

In order to promote regional stability and development, the United Arab Emirates aims to foster beneficial ties through communication, building on areas of common interest, and managing divergent viewpoints.

Iranian President received greetings from His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. They also expressed their wishes for Iran’s continued well-being, prosperity, and development.

The Iranian President expressed gratitude for the greetings and wished the authorities of the United Arab Emirates ongoing growth and development.
