His Excellency stated, “The recent global economic challenges, in which the repercussions of the Corona pandemic are entangled with the impacts of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and the disruption of supply chains have stressed the significance of the role played by global trade hubs in connecting international markets and sustaining regularity of the supply chains. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has arisen as a major global trade hub because of its advanced infrastructure, strategic location, and developed systems, applications, and operations.”

At the agency, we passionately and actively improved the key role of the UAE in supporting global trade. Almost 24 million transactions were completed last year, rising by 50% compared to 2020, which amounted to 16 million transactions. 99.6% of the transactions were conducted online through the Department’s intelligent systems. The innovative workspace platform allows the completion of the customs declaration in less than 4 minutes, said Ahmed Mahboob Musabih.

During the long break of Eid Al Fitr, Dubai Customs handled over 659,101 bags for 515,235 travellers on 4,170 flights arriving in the country through Dubai airports. The Department has taken many steps in the three airport terminals and Al Maktoum International Airport to ease the entry of visitors and tourists.

Dubai Customs has recently launched several innovations, including the Electric Vehicles, which inspectors as well as the Customs Submarine utilize to catch and thwart suspicious vessels, the i-box initiative for valuable goods, and the second phase of the i-Declare innovative application.
