Expressing heartwarming gesture, the Dubai Police has fulfilled the wish of young women to meet her incarcerated father at the Central Jail of Dubai on her birthday.

Expressing heartwarming gesture, the Dubai Police has fulfilled the wish of young women to meet her incarcerated father at the Central Jail of Dubai on her birthday. It is to be noted that the meeting between father and daughter is happening almost after six years of separation.

While clarifying on the above mentioned, Brigadier Marwan Abdulkarim Jalfar, Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments, added that, “Dubai police had received a call from the young woman after her arrival to the UAE, expressing her wish to visit her father on her birthday. She had not seen him since he left their home nation six years ago in search of work, only to get involved in financial issues leading to his imprisonment.”

Brigadier Jallfar clarified that in-person meeting with inmates has been halted since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

He added that, “The General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments transitioned to visual communication methods, allowing inmates to connect with their families, whether inside or outside the nation. This approach is considered safer, helping in maintaining a disease-free prison environment.”

While recalling the commitment of Dubai Police, Brigadier Jalfar said that, “They are always eager to meet all requests from the inmates and their families within the confines of the law. He noted that such humanitarian initiatives important for the work of the Department. These actions are impacting the inmates’ mental well-being, encouraging them to make better choices in rehabilitation, training and employment, thereby allowing them for the future societal integration.”

Major Abdullah Ahli, Acting Director of the Dubai Central Jail, added that the inmate was unaware of his daughter’s visit. Major Ahil said that, ‘The father, who had left his home country and family to work in Dubai but ended up imprisoned due to financial troubles, hadn’t seen his daughter since then. She recently arrived in the UAE with her family, contacted Dubai Police, and requested to see her father on her birthday.”

He explained that Dubai Central Jail made special arrangements to celebrate the birthday and surprise the inmate.
